“Good Luck , David” said my mom and my sister. It was finally the day that I was going to tryout to make the “A” team of the NJ Avalanche. I worked as hard as an Ant all year, I took hockey lessons before school and after school till 11 o’clock. I also went to different places for lessons, such as Ice House, Cutting Edge, Extra Edge, and Evolution Hockey. I started hockey because of Ryan, who used to be my friend till I moved to Illinois. I was over at his house, and he asked me, “Do you want to play Hockey?”. Then I asked what it was, and he explained to me in detail. I fell in love with hockey, which is the main reason why I play hockey. I am thankful to Ryan, because he was the one to introduce me to hockey. Today, I have to go to the Ice House to attend the tryout at 7 o'clock. …show more content…
Of course, I was going to be defense. Then the game started. I was in the first line up and I was so excited and nervous at the same time. I thought as if my heart was going to blow up. Then I went out , and got in my defensive position. Then I got the puck , and I skated across the ice, stickhandling through everyone. Then it was time for me to take the shot. I was nervous, because it I did not make it, I would have to sprint to the other side as fast as a lightning. I took the shot and I scored!! Then we continued the game for 20 more minutes, and we were finally done. I stepped out of the ice rink, and went to the locker room that I was assigned to change in. I changed as slow as a turtle, with multiple thoughts going through my head. I was proud of myself because of how hard I worked at the tryout and how hard I’ve worked all year. Then I told myself that even if I don’t make the team, I am still going to work hard to reach other goals. I could not tell how I was feeling, I had millions emotions all mushed

Sometimes, in sports or in life in general, there are favorites and underdogs. There is a general consensus that the favorite team or player will win but sometimes it`s the underdog that wins and receives all the honor related with that win. This is very similar to what I read about Seabiscuit and what I watched in the video of Jason McElwain. Some people have the ability to transcend their underdog status (ie. Red from Seabiscuit and Jason) and create something very special.…

My domination of easily breezing by my neighbors in street hockey and always ranked at the top of stat sheets for scoring in recreational hockey, abruptly ended when I joined my first competitive travel hockey team. My first game exemplified the setbacks my fear imposed on my team when I frighteningly moved out of the way of an enormous player to grant him a free pass to the net in which he scored the game winning goal. Shamefully looking at me as if I were an ally of the other team, I became alienated after my team after they began the tradition of…

It was a windy Thursday, we were on our way to the ice skating rink. The first second we walked in, the cold air covered our body through the bone. It smell like ice, just like the first second when I open the freezer and stick my head into in. The scrapes of the skates, laughter and the screams covered the rink with worm welcome.…
