Introduction Welcome to Philadelphia, Pope Francis! Philadelphia is amazing because of the historical value of it. Philadelphia is where the founding fathers of this country met and discussed the Declaration of Independence. Philadelphia is where very great elementary schools, high schools, and collages are maintained for everyone’s benefit. Philadelphia is also home to the Phillies and the Eagles. While you are here, we will visit the Art Museum, Independence Hall, and the Betsy Ross House.

The U.S. constitution and the Declaration of Independence were debated and signed it here. On July 2, 1776 the Declaration of Independence was approved. Independence Hall is located on Chestnut Street, between 5th and 6th street. The building was built between 1732 and 1756. Andrew Hamilton himself oversaw the entire construction of Independence Hall.
Originally, Independence Hall had no steeple, it was added around 1750. The basement of Independence Hall was once Philadelphia’s dog pound. On July, 2010 Independence Hall underwent a 14 month restoration project. Independence Hall is part of the national park service. In 1948 the Independence National Park was created. Today, Independence Hall is a proud symbol of our freedom and there is an interpreter for different languages.
Betsy Ross House The Betsy Ross House is located at 239 Arch Street. The Betsy Ross House was built over 250 years ago. George Washington, Robert Morris, and George Ross asked Betsy Ross to create a flag in their design. The original design of the flag had 6 pointed stars, but Betsy suggested 5 pointed stars. On June 14, 1777, Congress adopted the stars and stripes as our official flag. Her skills as a seamstress enabled her to support herself and seven
