Humans are amazing creatures, smart, agile, top predator, and learners. Children love to learn when it’s intriguing to them. Perhaps not all like to learn math or science, but prefer to learn music and art. Standardized testing is destroying the ability to be creative and learn. More and more lesson plans need to be modified to accommodate for standardized test materials. Classes have to be cut to allow for preparations in testing. Now even art, and Phy. Ed must take these tests! Students are taught to memorize as much as they can and deduct answers from a small pool of possible answers. hunger affects our ability to concentrate and makes test taking more difficult. Some people blame the teachers rather than the failing school system. Teachers are underpaid and often times use their own money to purchase supplies. “only 54 percent of low-income students passed the Common Core algebra exam in June 2014.
