It is an ongoing argument on whether high school students should arrive at schools later to help the teens who are sleep deprived, depressed and have serious mood swings. This is inconvenient for a number of reasons. Parents cannot get their children to school on time if the school time is changed, and it interrupts the teens schedules who are already accustomed to the 7:30 time scheduling. In the passage “ High schools starting later to help sleepy teens” by: Michelle Trudeau it states that later school times are helping the teens be more alert in class, they have less depression issues and the parents have less problems than before due to their emotions being more regulated.…
It's been almost 4 months into my Senior year and I can almost feel the pressure building upon my shoulders; realizing now that I have accomplished many grades to come up to this final grade, I find myself standing in a position where everything and all the things that I do throughout this year must be impeccable. Knowing that I am sprouting, my responsibilities and capabilities of accomplishing academic levels have been more than overwhelming, every single day I push my self to complete assignments for certain classes I am enrolled in, turn in due date work and make sure that work is almost to it's finest needs, but even that has not provided enough energy for me to quit. I feel that each day I'm growing stronger and stronger through…
Children squabbling over the last packet of Play-Doh. Presidential candidates debating over the possible ways to create jobs and a fruitful economy in the United States. Sons and daughters instigating a family feud during the loss of a parent over inheritances. What do these everyday situations have in common? Fighting.…
If I am able to get into middle school, but looking at my grades, there is a VERY slim chance I will succeed and get there. But, if there is a miracle, these are the things I will change about myself in class. I will try to get my work done because I have many missing assignments at my elementary school, which is causing my horrible grades. I will try to listen more in class because sometimes I do not understand or I just don’t listen to the teachers when they are doing a lesson, and I want to be more interested in classwork and instructions that the teachers put for us when we do something we haven’t really done. Another thing I’d like to improve in at my school before I go over to the 7th grade is to get better at everything we do…
I easily get frustrated, when I get frustrated I tend to lash out. When I feel this way I say some of the rudest things to people. When I get frustrated sometimes I can’t control how I react therefore, my emotions get the best of me. Most people know that saying things out of anger is not the best solution to the problem.…
There is a quote by Les Brown that I think is really inspiring. She said, “Life takes on meaning when you become motivated, set goals, and charge after them in an unstoppable manner.” This quote helps me to keep moving towards my goals and not give up once it starts getting difficult. There are so many things that I want to do this year, like getting into Science Olympiad, getting A’s in all of my classes, and getting a good chair in my orchestras outside of school. I hope that I can stay motivated in order to achieve these things.…
Hello, I am Joe Freeman and I am here to discuss my goals in high school and goals leading into college. The next four years i will be attending high school, I would like to see myself achieve at least a 4.0 grade point average, if not higher, and maintain it. I believe this is very important to my high school education since I haven`t done well in my previous schooling and feel like I could have done better. However, if I am able to get a high GPA in the next four years of high school, it will help me be able to be accepted into a good college of hopefully, my first choice.…
Recently terror has shaken the world in Paris on November 13, 2015. Mass shootings and suicide bombings all happened nearby within a matter of a short time killing many. This tragedy has confirmed the harsh truth in which life without punishments reveals a wicked side within people. William Golding, in his novel, Lord of the Flies emphasizes the evils people hold and how one will act when people don’t stick to the status quo. Several flaws lie within, including the evils of brutality and maliciousness which can be overpowering and chaotic.…
When I was younger, I was always told by my parents to never fight, whether it be verbally or physical. For the most part, I always followed those understandable rules, but that does not mean I was never tempted. When I was in the seventh grade, I had a girl approach me in front of our entire class, and tell me she wanted to fight. To this day, I do not remember what I did to make her want to cause me physical harm, but I know I was not ready for the class to think I was a “punk”. However I could not fight her, because I was going to get in trouble with my parents, and although I was extremely mad at the girl, I will take walking away from her than disobeying my parents any day.…
I have to motivate myself and think positive. In the beginning of the year I had struggles of thinking positive because of all those assignments I hand in late had me thinking that I will not succeed nor I will not get any further with my future. But knowing that I had to start doing things differently got me thinking differently. By the middle of the semester I started changing slowly and slowly just by these strategies we have been doing in class and homework…
