Arthur (Boo) Radley was a mockingbird. Tom, an innocent man was put on death row for something he didn’t do. The jury knew themselves, but because of their stubbornness and unwillingness to accept the truth, they still put him there when he committed no crime. “No ma’am there ain’t no charge.” (Lee, 191) He was a honest, hardworking man, and he never asked for money. From the kindness of his heart he helped Mayella because he had been there and seen how the family was. He noticed that no one helped Mayella and the only thing that was in order was the little yard of geraniums which belonged to Mayella. “Reverend, he’s crippled!” (Lee, 186). Tom Robinson was accused of supposedly “choking” Mayella, but this man’s right arm was withered from a cotton gin.
