The Importance Of Uniforms In High School

Uniforms Keeping It Classy Many controversial issues about the educational system have been brought up over the years, school uniforms being one of them. Uniforms provide equality in the classroom which lower the chances of bullying, saves money on clothing, and helps reinforce dress code in a more mannerly way. Bullying has been around since the dawn of ages. As society has grown, whether it be technologically or just as whole, so has bullying. According to an anti-bullying survey, “About 14% of 8th - 12% graders and 22% of 4th - 8th graders report that those who use bulling behaviors ‘diminished their ability to learn’” (LaRocco, et al. 3). By making everyone, not only just private schools, wear uniforms it gives the bully one less thing to tease other children about. One cannot make fun of someone else for “looking ugly” or having if everyone is required to wear the same clothing. This makes it harder to tell what social class each kid comes from. On the other hand, bullying will more than likely always exist, but it does not hurt to try to decrease the chances of people getting bullied. Another counter argument would be that students will not have a way to express themselves.
