In 2015, more than 350,000 Syrian refugees fled for Europe to come join and become apart of new countries and societies. In early 2016, 25,000 refugees are set to arrive in Canada and I want to answer the question that can we integrate them into our cities and make sure that they become a part of a community and a country that they can trust will get them good jobs and keep them safe.
First, every person who comes into Canada needs a sense of welcome, refugees who come to a new country need to know that they are safe. Second, they need to know that they have ways to support their family and wont be stuck without a good job that they enjoy. This is something that the Canadian government can help with. You might be labeled as something else and it might be hard for you to find a nice neighbourhood where you were welcome. Hundreds of thousands of Syrian refugees have been given the opportunity to come from Syria and move to a new country I new place where they can start a war free life where they are not fighting for their lives every single day. Canadas largest city, Toronto Ontario has a 630 Square kilometres of land in a population of around 2.6 million people. Mayor John Tory expects Toronto to take in between 2,000 and 2,500 refugees, but has not found specific place for them to live yet. They'll be scattered all over Toronto but some might not have enough money to buy a house or support their family. They don't want to be put into sketchy neighbourhoods or shady areas, they've all came from these kinds of places, although way more intense, don't want to have to go through anything like it ever again. Total cost for integrating the Syrians into Canada is around $678 million dollars, this includes getting them over and finding a safe residence in a nice neighbourhood. The government can help by putting them in a community where everyone is like one big family it doesn't matter what you look like, what you do for a living, where you came from or what you believe in.
