How To Improve The Electoral System

The president is elected by the people, right? Wrong. The president is actually elected by The Electoral College. The Electoral College is the system that elects the president indirectly. Each state including The District of Columbia gets at least three Electoral Votes. The number of Electoral Votes given to each state is dependent on the number of senators in that state, and the number of representatives in that state (One vote for each senator and representative). So the real question is, should the U.S. change its election system? Yes. It should. The U.S. should change their election system to base it off of the opinions of the people; due to the lack of say that voters actually have in the election, the unfairness each well-populated state has if the electoral college is ended in a tie and the vote is given to the House of Representatives, and the possible one-sidedness of an Electoral College member in a swing state. One of those types of states are something called swing states. Swing states are the states that change between voting Democratic and Republican during every election year. An example of these swing states are shown on the map that highlights states such as Colorado, Wisconsin, Ohio, Virginia, and Florida. So, what are the negative effects that the Electoral College has on these swing states? Take the idea that the members of The Electoral College in one of these 5 swing states are either Strongly liberal or strongly conservative. The people of these states are neither due to the idea that the popular vote swings between Democratic and Republican ideals. The idea that The Electoral College in these states could be possibly voting for the same party every year makes the idea of a swing state pointless in a presidential
