How To Improve School Lunches

School lunches have become a leading problem in many american schools.”School districts are responsible for feeding hundreds of thousands of students every day, but sometimes the cafeterias miss the mark.“(nbcdfw 2018). The food is so low quality that it doesn’t give students the energy to power them throughout the school day. We need to change the food we serve at school to help out our students and to raise our standards of our school breakfast and lunches. The new food must be healthy and provide enough protein to last throughout the day. Along with this food being good for you we also need to make sure it is something kids actually want to eat. According to the American Heart Association the amount of kids being diagnosed with obesity have tripled from 2013 to 2016 and is increasing each year. The cause of this starts in the household and is continued at school. If kids are eating unhealthy at home and coming to school and eating more unhealthy food then we obviously aren’t doing our part. ”With 31 million children receiving school lunches and 20% of all U.S. children suffering from obesity, changing what is served in school lunches is a necessary measure.” ( Heart 2011).
