What I want to learn from Creative Writing is to be more imaginative in my writing, learn different ways to complete assignment, and get better in my writing ability. I want to get more confident in my writing and work on my weakness like grammar, spelling, and coming up with ideas then turning them into stories. This class has helped challenge me to better my writing capability.

My first writing assessment was a memoir. I choose to write about my brother playing video games. As insignificant as it sounds, the memory of Michael and I fighting about whoa gets to play on the Nintendo, made me appreciate my brother, since he no longer lives at home. My goal for this assignment was to have fun, add a little humor because

I wrote a fairytale about a dancing princess and a fire breathing dragon. This assignment was great because it was one of the different types of writing I wanted to explore. Being able to come up with the idea and write it, was a great accomplishment for me because it is a challenged to create an idea, plan it, and then write it. I was able to make up characters, conflicts and complications. My example of this in on page 4 of “Sawn Lake” “Not wanting to be caught she turned around and ran a cross the hallway and hide behind a big plant. She made it in time before the doors opened by her father walking out ordering to his manservant, to call in all the guards. As her father walked way Annabelle dashed into the dinning room where her mom was sitting looking out the window.” I did a great good at showing instead of telling an example of this from my Unit 2 Writers’ Notebook: “Nicole and Robert locked hands, and looked in each others eye, they slowly moved in for a kiss, the warmth was welcoming, even thought it was for a second. Blushing Nicole turned her head and looked at the tall building in front of them. Nicole then thought about how life might have been different if they had stayed

Before I turned in memoir number one in college comp, I had confidence in my writing. I attended comp last semester, and developed adequate writing skills for the class. However, as the teacher handed my essay back, I gasped at the red marks all over the page. I acquired a fourteen out of thirty on my first memoir! I think that paraphrasing will be the hardest for me to avoid while writing. It seems that sometimes it is hard to write or summarize something that is so well written already. The way I will work around that is to stop and re-read what I am wanting to summarize, take a few important words out of the material I am reviewing and jot those down, then go back and write what is needed to complete my sentence or idea. Once I have completed my writing, I will review and make sure I have properly cited my work. Using the guidelines discussed in our “Read Section”, and following the instructions listed on how to source correctly should avoid paraphrasing mistakes and plagiarism.…

Have You Developed a System of Writing That Works Most of The Time I really have not looked up different styles of writing let alone realized there was so many different types of it. My method is not necessarily a method per se, I have always for the longest time just wrote down as if I was speaking to someone. That to me was where my biggest praise came from, that I was able to write with such voice and was able to emulate my presence through the pages. When writing for an essay there is a period where I read and reread the question to gather all the information that is needed. Once the question is fully understood, I try to explain myself in full detail.…

Well, I consider myself to be a decent writer, even though writing is not my strong point. Therefore, as I have come to the completion of my degree, I have learned numerous writing skills along the way. I learned the MLA style, when I started taking my basics in college and the APA style for my upper division courses. At times I get confused on the formats as I consider them to be similar in some ways. Furthermore, they differ and each has its own different style of quoting and citation in articles, books, phrases, etc.…

One of the very first memories I had as a child was lying in bed at night and listening to my mom read stories to me. As I got older, I would pick bigger, harder, and longer books to read.…
