The behaviour of individuals within the classroom has the potential to affect the whole class and therefore effective management of these issues will benefit all. Ashley is a four-year-old child who enjoys physical activities but can become frustrated when she has to wait her turn or loses at a game. At times she has hit and kicked her peers at preschool- these instances have been documented. Ashley’s parents have mentioned that she also has trouble with these situations at home. Ashley’s behaviour could be affected by many factors from her social skill level to the classroom design. A plan to support Ashley will be developed in consultation with her parents. The plan will focus on helping Ashley take control and responsibility for her behaviour as encouraged by current early childhood curriculum and policy documents. …show more content…

For an effective FBA Ashley and her parents will be involved in the discussion and formulation of the plan to assist in identifying the triggers and behaviours of concern (Conway, 2012, p. 144). Once the triggers and behaviours are identified the strategies can be developed. For the strategies to be effective they need to take in to account Ashley’s age, learning style, the different environments, relevant policy and curricula documentation and the role and influence of her peers (Doherty, 2009, p. 394).
