As stated above if not directly indirectly, Pi without his faith in his religion wouldn’t have been able to hold on and keep going. The basic principle of faith is the hope that something is bigger than ourselves, and no matter the hardships it happens for a reason. To have faith is to have trust in what you’re doing and who is pushing you to do it. Pi without faith that he was to survive (even though at times he questioned it and in some cases misunderstood the message being sent) would have died. There’s plenty of examples of Pi’s faith throughout the novel. One event that come to mind more than others, is when Pi had faith even if it might have been all in his head, Pi still had faith even in the end when the man was trying to kill him.
