Many schools are spending so much money for after-curricular sports, when they could be spending this money on academics. According to an article by Amanda Ripley; she interviewed Ernest Singleton of Premont Independent School district who said that “he realized they could save 150,000 dollars when getting rid of after-school sports’’(10). Most schools nationwide spend on average 500,000 dollars on bleachers, 20,000 dollars for maintaining fields, traveling costs for buses, feeding the kids, and paying the substitutes when the teachers are traveling for games (Ripley, 10). This evidence clearly shows that districts shouldn't be wasting their schools money on after school sports, when they could be using this money to enhance students education.
