This movie is the rare mix between animation and real action film. It is not a movie in which the animation and characters interact with each other, but there is a balance between both genres. It is a coming of age story and how the lives of teenagers can be affected by simple events in their ordinary life. In the Seventies, the fifteen years old troublemaker and leader altar boy Tim Sullivan and his three great friends, Francis Doyle, Wade Scalisi and Joey Anderson, study in a repressive Catholic school, and they hate their nun-teacher Sister Assumpta. Francis has a crush on Margie Flynn, who has a dramatic secret in her life.…

I chose the book Serpent’s Shadow by Rick Riordan for my IR summative because I thought a book that includes action, drama, and mythology all in one would be really exciting. Since I don’t see books with Egyptian mythology very often, I thought getting to know a little bit of it would be fun while reading a good story. This book was packed with action and had a good twist of drama and mythology to it. The story was very entertaining because the author is really good at describing what was going on and using really good cliffhangers, so that the reader would keep reading the book..…

Many stories throughout literary history resonate with their readers. Some enough to be deemed literary classics. Three stories which resonate with readers from all ages are “Boys” by Rick Moody, “Girl” by Jamaica Kincaid, and “Lust” by Susan Minot. All three stories tell of the coming of age experiences that men and woman have, but do not share the same tone. Two in particular, “Girl” and “Lust” are told from the perspective of characters themselves, and “Boys” is told from the perspective of an individual observing the main characters.…

One topic that I found interesting to me was military suicide and the reasons the book thought military personal was committing suicide. This really gained my attention, because being a military child myself, I have experienced different reasons as to why a military veteran or active duty service member would commit suicide. Many of those reasons are from P.T.S.D (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder), which comes from being in a very traumatic situation. The majority of these suicides from my personal experience is, because the service members are not able to handle or talk about the problems they have experienced and many will not share everything. These issues do not end for most of them when they go to sleep, most of the time they have nightmares.…

The book I just finished reading was “Hush, Hush” by Becca Fitzpatrick. In my opinion, this book has many themes. One of the main ones being forbidden love or opposites attracted. When Nora and Patch met in biology class Nora knew that she was attracted to him, but she can’t seem to push back the warning signs he puts up in her head. Nora and Patch from the outside are complete opposites in everything between shape and size to afterschool activities and personalities in general.…
