Some simple things to help you get started: Knowing your struggles
Knowing or identifying your struggles about your everyday life that deal with organization helps in tremendous ways. Those things are where you want to start. Ex: “I have a struggle of not being able to ever find my papers or notebooks for each class”. One way to improve this would be to get color coded notebooks and folders to store your notes or papers in. Like english could be a red notebook with a red folder, It’d also help to label the materials used so you can grab them and know right away which one you have.

The very thing you have papers you can't even remember what from stacked mile high, the arrange of multi colored pens and pencils scattered across it and it wouldn't be a desk if there weren't at least a couple tangled cords. Depending on who you are this could be a huge task but once it's done and you've gotten it organized in a way that works for you, there won't be a better feeling than the one you're gonna feel. To start try using drawers. Now these can be your best friend or your enemy they can get cluttered just as easily but using labels and keeping a drawer dedicated to a very minimal amount of different things you should be good. Another good tool which can be conveniently be found at home are cans.
