How To Get A Trophy Persuasive Essay

Decent Essays
One of the moments that I resented someone who received an honor that I was supposed to receive, was when I wasn't awarded for being the better dancer. The dance trophy, that I justified on taking, was given to her. Therefore, when the person was receiving the trophy, I was surprisingly angry because when I lose, I do not usually become enraged when I don't receive a trophy. I was really upset because they applied money to arrange her to get the trophy. She didn’t deserve that trophy owing to the fact that she wasn't a determined dancer. If her dad hadn’t paid for the trophy, I would have won the trophy. Hence, I was similarly angry at the other person who decided to let her receive the trophy instead of me because it was very unfair.

In Vivian Diller’s article, “Do We All Deserve Gold? Setting Kids Up To Fail” and Lisa Heffernan’s article, “In defense of participation trophies: Why they really do teach the right values” both authors disagree on many different things about participation trophies. The one disagreement that drives these authors the furthest apart is kids being given trophies for just participating or giving trophies to those who only win and what the value of this holds for the kids. Lisa Heffernan states that giving “participation trophies remind young kids that they are part of something, and may help build enthusiasm to return for another season” in her article “In defense of participation trophies: Why they really do teach the right values” (In Defense).…

At the ends of each semester college kids are packing up to return for the holidays. They’ll pack their clothes, throw out old assignments they never turned in, and look through their food to see what needs to go. In ‘Dumpster Diving’ by Lars Eighner he talked about how college kids are throwing out food, giving it an unfair characterization. Only a few percent of college kids are the party-going, drug addicted, drinker types but there are determined college kids who stay away from all of that and focus on being in their dorm or home studying or relaxing because let’s face it college is stressful.…

Dear Editor, During this constitutional convention, I’ve noticed things that were said on the federalist and the anti-federalist side. I have taken the side of the federalist and agreed completely on what they all have said. We have covered all subjects such as: Separation of powers/checks and balances, the elastic clause, Congressional powers of taxation and war, and A bill of rights. When discussing the separation of powers, we all agreed that having a checks and balances system would suit us best; therefore, there won’t be any one person in charge there would be three branches of government.…

Especially the tension of waiting for your events to be called and the countdown of each medalist ranking. Overall, the suspense, the excitement and my love for science and math is what attracts me to this activity the most.…
