How To Describe A Whoville Concert

Improved Essays
Today I went to Holiday in Whoville concert with Kelly together. It is really a very good experience for me because this concert is very different than other concerts that I have been before. Compare to other concerts this concert is more like a big party for me. When the singers sing the songs on the stage, all the audience can sing along with them together. In addition, because it is almost Christmas so all the songs are relevant to Christmas. There is a chamber choir of 25 singers and one piano accompaniment. In the concert they totally perform nineteen songs. The first song is called “Winter Wonderland”. The music is not relatively slow, when I listening to this song I felt like I am walking in the street very relaxing while it is snowing outside. And I really like the second song called “That’s Christmas to me”, this song sounds very beautiful. The song sounds like a pop song to me. In the song’s lyrics it says “I see the children play outside, like angels in the snow. While mom and daddy share a kiss under the mistletoe. And we’ll cherish all these simple thins wherever we may be. Oh, why? Cause that’s Christmas to me” The lyrics of this song make me start to miss my parents. The song is in F# major. When the singers song this song it sounds amazing to me. There are some singers’ sings high pitches and some singers sing low pitches all together. Al though there are twenty five singers in the sing together, when I closed my eyes and listen to the music it felt like there is only one people singing one the stage, but when I listen to it carefully I can also distinguish that they are sing different pitches which combined a very beautiful song. I also like this song because during the singers …show more content…

Kelli was very active during this performance; she was involved in three different solos: “Bashana Haba’ah, Gesu Bambino, and Hanukah Holiday”. In my opinion, I believe she did a great job handling those songs. The show included audience participation when they performed “Rejoice With Exceeding Great Joy”. It was a nice opportunity to have a moment of bonding of sorts between audience and performers. “The Christmas Song” was performed next which I really enjoyed.…

Attending my first concert, Idina Menzel was my first live performance to ever attend and experience the music live. Menzel performs a selection of songs from her Broadway career, along with original songs from her various solo albums, and her Pop and Rock covers. The group that performed for Menzel was a local Los Angeles band and they played very well for the choices of songs she sang. The performers that played for Menzel was very impressive and seemed they had no problem playing and following the beat of the singer’s voice. There were times when Menzel would stop singing abruptly and they would stop with her at the same time.…

My favorite piece throughout this concert was “Tell My Father” because the men’s choir sang it so beautifully. All the men sang this song using a tenor voice. The melody of this song was very slow and very relaxing to listen to. This piece was homophonic because the choir was accompanied by the violin. The violin also played beautiful four minute cadenza throughout this piece too.…

I feel a little more comfortable at classical concerts now than I did the first time I went to one this semester. In terms of broadening my appreciation for classical style music, I was impressed by how upbeat and fun some of the songs that were performed were. It was actually a very entertaining concert. I would definitely recommend someone to go see the UAH choir, because they are a very impressive group and have really nice voices. I also really liked how the conductor would give us background information before the songs were performed, because this isn’t normally something that is done at a pop or rock style concert.…

The Winter Concert was a marvelous showcase of music talent from the student body of St. John’s music society. There were in total twelve magnificent musical pieces and were all much appreciated by the people who were there. All the musical pieces were great, but the one that I enjoyed the most was the Claude Debussy which was presented by Kevin Won and Rex Chou who played the piano together. However, that does not take away from the other music works that were down. Furthermore, I felt all the pieces of music had some great moments and others not so good, but overall was a great concert.…
