The reason why I choose this concert is because the cellist gave me a very impressive memorize so that I could still recall almost everything from the concert by his playing. Another reason is that there is barely to see some Chinese cellist to play with great orchestra, but Wang Jian has done it extremely well.

Wang Jian played the cello concerto in A minor composed by Schumann. This is very beautiful western music in romantic period. Schumann was very standard classical composer. However, dislike other composers in that period; Schumann composed a concerto with its

It was reflected by cello plays some perky chords from the woodwind before the opening idea re-emerges. Although the idea is repeat, the style is already became to much more exciting. The amazing change is the music seems continue with this exciting melody to the brilliant climax but it is not. Cello suddenly forces the mood and speed down and embarks on a long, lyrical section. And the amazing change has not finish yet. Every time the cello gradually becomes more exciting and it seems to be about to reach a climax, however, every time the cello pull the feeling back to smooth and build the melody again until once the cello play the solo almost like the climax but Schumann use a deductive cadence make the amazing change reappear. The slow movement is coming after the opening idea re-emerges. If the opening movement sounds like a lovely song, then the slow movement is more like a thoughtful conversation between cello and orchestra. It expressed that one side of gentle character of Schumann when the mellow cello's

And although I could not distinguish the end of one work and another, of this if I knew when it would end as it was as there came a time when everything sounded very strong, very powerful and suddenly stopped. Concerts Across Time Some would say “they don’t make music like they use to”. What is the era of music are they referring to? Each person has a different view of what they refer to as the “Golden Age” of music. Music has certainly evolved from the Baroque period but after centuries of music development there is nothing wrong with sticking to the fundamentals that inspired musicians and composers for generations.…

Walking into the auditorium, I immediately noticed that the atmosphere of the concert was completely different from that of the classical concert I attended weeks earlier. To begin with, it seemed like there was much more of an audience. Everyone seemed excited for the concert to start. As for myself, I was also excited because, on the very front of the program, it said that there was a guest artist that was going to perform with the ensemble. The performers wore more of a business casual look, some were a little more dressed up than others, but overall they looked very well dressed.…

Caprice sur les grands jeux composed by Louis-Nicholas Clerambault. I really enjoyed this performance because of the powerful intensity of the notes. The dynamics would change frequently from solft to loud music. Since it was a Recital, meaning a solo concert with or without an accompaniment, but in this case Guenette was playing the organ, I cannot comment if he was playing in tune or not since he was to only performer on stage and I was not familiar with the piece therefore, I would not have known if he was playing in tune.…

Introduction One of the most remarkable composers of the nineteenth century, Chopin composed exclusively for the piano and his music is innovative with a particular repertoire of technical and expressive devices. His musical style can be described as unique because of his variety and complexity of compositional techniques. The Piano Sonata Op.35 No.2 is an illustration of Chopin’s musical style where he explores several elements found in the nineteenth century music such as the “idea of artistic freedom, experimentation, and creativity. Furthermore, the nineteenth century music was a time of individualism and intense feelings where the literary movement, industrialization, and nationalism influenced composers’ musical creativity.”…

I attended the Stones River Chamber Players on February 29th. This was played in the Hilton Music Hall. When I was going in I did not know what to expect because I have never been to a music concert on the MTSU campus. There were around 60-70 people who attended this concert. Most of the individuals who attended were more than likely there for a class because more than half were students who did not understand the concept of staying off of their phone.…
