Effective communication can’t happen where there is no trust, reliability and responsibility.
Show that you are a good listener by making sure you understand what they say and by letting the speaker to finish talking before you begin to talk
Humour is one of the ways to get someone to relax and open up communication so tell a joke if you can. However avoid dirty jokes and jokes that are derogatory towards other cultures, religions and genders.
