Baking at a early age. Christmas time my family would always get together 2 days prior to Christmas bake cookies. I always like to bake but cookies were my specialties. My favorite cookies to make are sugar cookie cut outs. My family loves them because they are soft and fluffy. To start the ingredient off you will need the following. 1 cup unsalted butter, slightly softened to room temperature
1 cup sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon almond extract (optional) 3 cups flour
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder 1/2 teaspoon salt For the icing For the icing: 3 3/4 cups sifted powdered sugar 3 Tablespoons meringue powder(I buy at Michael’s)
6 Tablespoons warm water 1/4 teaspoon almond extract
• Preheat oven to 350 degrees and line a baking sheet with parchment …show more content…
(Times may vary depending on thickness. Bake until edges start to turn golden brown.) Repeat with remaining dough.
For the icing you will need:
• Add all icing ingredients and beat on high for 4-5 minutes, until smooth. If you want icing thicker add a little more sugar. If you need it thinner (flow consistency) add a little bit more water. Trial and error.
• I put my icing into separate bowls and add food coloring(I prefer paste, from Michael’s) to make a variety of colors:)
• Fill icing into bags or spread icing on cookies. I think everyone should gives these cookies a try you will absolutely love them. Me and my family love these cookies although we make lots of different cookies during Christmas time these were my favorite one to make because they were more personal to me. This is my favorite recipe, I've tried about 6 different ones then I found this one. This one is good for beginners that just want to try out a different type of cut out. I also thinks these are great for kids to help with, especially for the fun part which is the decorating. I hope you guys
