Changing a Tire Some people might look at a flat tire and be intimidated or even scared because they don’t know what to do. The process of changing a tire is not something to be afraid of, given the right tools it is a quite simple task. Whether you are stranded alongside the road with a flat tire or just putting new tires on at home, the process is pretty much the same and anyone can accomplish the task. The first step of changing a tire is getting the tools that you will need. Vehicles are usually equipped with everything you need including a jack, a lug nut wrench, and a spare tire. When you are not in an emergency situation you may also want to use jack stands and a breaker bar to replace the lug nut wrench. Once all of the lug nuts are removed you can remove the tire. Be sure to place the lug nuts somewhere you can find them and they won’t roll away. Sometimes the tire may be seized onto the vehicle and kicking the tire with the back of your heel will break it free. After removed, you can replace with the new tire. After getting the tire put on over the studs you can start the lug nuts back on by hand. Be sure to get a couple turns by hand. After getting the new tire on and starting the lug nuts by hand you can tighten them down with the wrench. By starting them with our hand you are sure that the threads are lined up and the lug nuts will tighten properly. When using the wrench to tighten the lug nuts you will tighten them to where the tire spins when turning the wrench. After the first lug nut is tight you will skip every other lug nut as ensure pressure is applied evenly. You may have heard of tightening the lug nuts in a star pattern and this is the same concept as skipping every other lug nut. Do this until all lug nuts are
