There’s always that unplanned event that you will be alone. Flat tires can happen anywhere at any time. Sooner or later, it's guaranteed to happen. You're driving along pondering about that important meeting, and abruptly your vehicle veers to one side and you hear that dreaded flapping sound of a flat tire. Remove the spare tire and other equipment that you will need.
2. Place beacons or reflective triangles behind your vehicle for safety, if you're changing your tire on the road.
3. Place stop blocks behind the tires opposite of the flat tire. This will help keep your vehicle stable while it's supported by mechanical jack.
4. Remove the hubcap or wheel cover. If your wheel retaining bolts are showing, avoid this step. While firmly grasping the lug wrench use the flat end of the lug wrench to pry the cover off the flat tire.
5. Pulling counter clock using the lug wrench Undo (WARNING! DON'T REMOVE) the wheel retaining nuts.
6. Slowly maneuver the mechanical jack beneath the car. Your vehicle owner's manual will give you the location and detailed instruction on how to use your mechanical jack.
7. Operate the mechanical jack until the flat tire is approximately 6 inches above the ground. Warning: Refrain from placing any parts of your body underneath the vehicle!
8. Unscrew and remove the wheel retaining nuts. Store these in a safe place—you'll need them all to secure the spare.
