Class pets are all the rage around the country for young children. But the problem for these teachers is that they have to find an animal that is easy to take car of but yet fun for their kids. After some research to help this problem I recomend a Guinea Pig. There are many reasons that a Guinea pig is the perfect match but here are a few examples.
First of all young kids like to be very hands on with their pets and to help with that they need a very gentle animals. Guinea pigs are perfect with that because they generally like to be picked up and handeled but the kids have to have some precautions too. For one thing they need to wash their hands before and after petting the Guinea pig so that neither of them are at risk of getting sick. Next kids arent usually very gentle with their pets because they havent usually learned consideration at that age. A Guinea pig has it's perks to being low maintenece but there are also things you have to be wary of too. Guinea pigs generaly have a small cage that they stay in wich genrally needs to be cleaned once to twice a week. Next the hygiene of the pet it relitivally cheap and easy. They need to be fed twice a day and good examples of food are timothy hay, orange slices, or just guinea pig pellets that you can find at the store. The cleanliness of the pet has a good and a bad side. The good part is that they rarely need to bathe, but the problem is that the like to make a mess of their bedding all the time wich may get all over the surface that they are set
