I always knew there would be a point in time where I would have to choose a career and I've always had an interest in being something medical so I decided I would research about how to become an anesthesiologist.

The reason I choose this topic is actually kind of a dumb reason. I've always was interested in a medical job but what really got me thinking of having a medical job was because of the show Grey's Anatomy. It is a show about surgeons/doctors in a hospital. I always knew I probably wouldn't be cut out to be a surgeon because I would probably be to grossed out but I thought maybe I could eventually be a different type of surgeon, an anesthesiologist. Anesthesiologists are known to be calm, I see myself as a generally calm person.

This might end up being a good job for me if I decide to work in Minneapolis because they make more money a year than other places. More pros to being an anesthesiologist is job security, wide variety of patient qtypes, autonomy, professional respect, working with your hands, and a good working schedule. “Unknown. Pros and Cons to being an Anesthesiologist, 1 Jan. 2017. Web 14 Jan. 2017.”

Although there are a lot of pros to being an anesthesiologist there are also quite a bit of cons. It is a very long training process, getting residency positions can be competitive, lack of follow-up and continuity in patient care, requires high level of responsibility and potential stress. I am not a very competitive person in general so I think it would be hard for me to get a residency position. “Unknown. Pros and Cons to being an Anesthesiologist, 1 Jan. 2017. Web 14 Jan.
