I was born and raised in Waimea. I lived here all my life. I’ve gone to the mainland a few times and every time I go, I can’t wait to come back home. There is nowhere like Hawai’i.
My plans after graduating from school is to become a lifeguard. I love the ocean and decided that working as a lifeguard will be something I will enjoy doing and be good at. This is how I will support myself now that I am an adult.
Lifeguarding is more than just cruising at the beach. It is making sure that people enjoying their day at the beach is safe. Most important though, as a lifeguard, I can take care of our beaches.
