When I first started university, I had to go to an advising session; while, I do not remember what it was about, The one thing that managed to grab my attention was when the advisor said “I can spot a freshman a mile away” when someone asked her how, she replied” just search for people who look lost and confused”. It struck a chord deep within me because I was really lost and confused, not only that but also anxious, friendless, and afraid of all the responsibilities and of the possibility of failing. While my family assured me that these obstacles are the key element in becoming more responsible, and overcoming them will allow me to discover my strengths and weaknesses. Motivation: I am a very strong believer of the quote, “Great things never come from comfort zone – Unknown”. As much as I tend to keep myself out of my comfort zone, by trying to learn new things at a fast pace, and be uncomfortable by juggling very challenging projects in my hand as doing poor in them will mean losing my credibility with faculty. That was what exactly Yarkin and Andrew emphasized on, as they said, the day you know what your passion is or what you want to build, then that should be it nothing should pull you down. This eventually pointed out the fact, that motivation is needed to push us one step forward, but then what about another…

At first, I was extrinsically motivated to participate in the activities during the challenge course for the sake of my grade. “Extrinsic goals are those that yield some reward which is separate and apart from an activity” (Olson, 2008, p. 56). However, when I actually participated in the activities, I was not only extrinsically motivated, but I was also intrinsically motivated, which are similar to my motivations for my general leisure activities. Throughout the Low Challenge Course, I came to enjoy the team activities that I participated in. It was motivating to watch my teammates work hard to complete the challenges that was given to us without giving…

My childhood memories regarding learning mathematics has been for the most part positive from 6th grade onwards. From 1st grade to 5th grade I was not conscientious so at times math tests produced anxiety but math was, at the same time, easier and simpler back then. I recall being the fastest person to state the multiplication tables in 4th grade. During 6th to 8th grade, although I was not necessarily the smartest, I landed at the top of the class in advance math since I was very hard working. However in 9th grade I recalled a horrific incident.…
