With the health and wellness degree there are several options to choose as a profession. The chosen one for this paper is a health and wellness teacher in a high school, also known as a secondary school, in Houston, Texas. A health and wellness teacher has a variety of requirements, traits, and skills that are needed in order to become the best possible teacher.
As a health and wellness teacher they are required to make lesson plans for the class, as well as adjusting the lesson plan to meet the class’s pace (Secondary School Teachers, n.d.). As any other teacher, a health and wellness teacher is to interact with the other teachers, whether it is to get lesson plans ideas or to stay social. A health and wellness teacher is there to help adolescents find what works best for them for their health, and how to maintain that health. Students and coworkers are looking for someone that they can trust and can be honest with them and with their teachings. Also, dependability is a good trait to have since the employer, students, and classmates are all needing someone that can be on time and deliver the correct teachings. As a teacher there are some times that get tough, especially when students get out of hand, that is why having a good amount of self-control is vital to being a teacher. Leadership is almost a given when being a teacher. A teacher is someone who leads people to their success, and shows them the best ways possible in getting there. Just like any job, it can become overwhelming and stressful at times. Work can pile up, and time can pass by faster than expected.
