How To Be A Bag Tax Persuasive Essay

Bag tax has been a topic of debate for several years. In California, a bag tax is already implemented and it has helped cut the effects of pollution. People all over the world, and especially citizens of the United States, are pushing for a bag tax to be implemented universally. Some people believe there are benefits to implementing a bag tax, for individual citizens, the state, and the environment. Others believe that a bag tax can be detrimental to families and wages. I personally believe that a bag tax should be implemented in Wyoming. First of all, a bag tax would reduce the amount of plastic going into our landfills and oceans. In Wyoming, recycling is limited and recycle bins are sparse. If you do want to recycle, you must go out of your way and it is super annoying. If there was a bag tax on plastic bags, it would encourage people to recycle bags and other plastics, instead of throwing them away. People could reuse trash bags or other shopping bags for groceries instead of getting new bags every time they go to the store. The amount of plastic sacks used would go down, and people would recycle more, whether they knew it our not, by using reusable bags. Implementing a bag tax would also help cut back on the littering because the plastic bags could not get caught in the wind. It is so easy for an empty grocery bag to get caught in the wind and be gone forever. I see plastic backs on the side of the road all the time. A bag tax would hinder people from receiving bags, and then they cannot get on the side of the road. A bag tax makes bags expensive, so it would steer people away from getting bags.
