High school in Australia begins at the average age of 13 where your begin year 7 and ends at the age of 18 in year 12. My high school was split into two campuses – years 7 to 9 and one and years 10 to 12 at the other. The first campus, 7 to 9, was a lot harsher about the uniform policy, skirt 10 cm above the knee, tie and top button done up, the usual stuff, and of course for the girls in particular, no makeup. This coursed some rebellious young women, like myself, to get into trouble quite a few times for breaking this useless rule.
The usual arguments were something along the lines of, ‘makeup doesn’t affect our education’, ‘were not hurting anyone’ etc. and the usual justifications of said rules from …show more content…
I could have used someone to tell me that during those rebellious few years of getting sent to the office for a makeup wipe because, ‘makeup is only for adults’, and ‘it makes you and the school look bad’.

Remember that second campus I mentioned? Well now that I’m about to enter my last year of high school education, the ‘no makeup’ rule is next to non-existent, meaning that while I’m almost positive the rule applies, its definitely never enforced. As a result of this, it’s not uncommon to see a particularly orange face or unforgiving foundation line outlining the face.
However, imagine if this rule were enforced more at this campus like it is at the other. Then, after the graduating class flies away from the nest, the real world is met with still developing makeup
