How To Analyze My Writing Style

Improved Essays
Writing is a way to express one’s self. From analysing my writing style I could say it needs a little work. The multiple improvements I need to work on is adding in more details in my work; staying on topic, and using more complex vocabulary.

Whether it’s how we feel or our opinion on something. When it comes to details I don’t provide enough information. I don’t provide enough information in my paragraphs. I tend to be confused on what to say and focus on. I have a problem with how to explain myself. Sometimes I tend to run out of ideas on what to say. In my AP English LTE class, the paragraphs I tend to have trouble with is when it comes to writing a conclusion. For my conclusion, I am supposed to summarize each paragraph, however I only write one or two sentences that don’t fully explain what is being summarized.

I get stressed out about what to say and how to put it in words. Planning has been a lifesaver for me, but the problem is that I take it for granted in which I use when I feel like it. My mind also likes to play tricks on me in which gets me in gets me anxious, therefore makes my paragraphs weak and simple. When I do research papers, any additional information that is being obtained comes from google sites that end with Com and Gov. Even writing research papers, I have difficulties writing on a topic.

The vocabulary words that we use in our everyday life determines our level of thinking. Depending on what I am writing about, the choice of words that I use can differ. When writing a research paper I would have a stronger vocabulary because I would tend to use the words of the source website. All through High School, I have been doing that and now I want to consider a change. I have a mind of my own in which I can read more and expand my choice of

Accelerated English 4 has been a class that has been one of my best English classes. The class taught me many new techniques along with improving my skills that I already knew, though not all were improved. My strength in vocabulary was still as high as it was while my ability to transition had improved quite well, though my ability to create a well styled paper was still suffering. When Accelerated English 4 started there was no excitement about the papers I would have to write.…

Reflective writing as a genre allows for a combination of personal reflection and critical thinking all intertwined into one. I turned my reflection essay into a new reflection that focused on a different level of the education system that would allow for me to reflect on my first semester of college to back up my allegations against the school system. When attempting to revise my essay in a new way I reread my old one and found an interesting theme screaming out of the paper. It was saying, “high school and Regents did not prepare me for college.” I took the idea a little further and expanded it to the SAT, that is a similar testing style to Regents, that similarly did not prepare me for college, and through research I found that income status…

I try to begin my essay in a good way so I can have a strong thesis statement. Making a strong thesis statement and a conclusion gives me some trouble. I think that paraphrasing will be the hardest for me to avoid while writing. It seems that sometimes it is hard to write or summarize something that is so well written already. The way I will work around that is to stop and re-read what I am wanting to summarize, take a few important words out of the material I am reviewing and jot those down, then go back and write what is needed to complete my sentence or idea. Once I have completed my writing, I will review and make sure I have properly cited my work. Using the guidelines discussed in our “Read Section”, and following the instructions listed on how to source correctly should avoid paraphrasing mistakes and plagiarism.…

Have You Developed a System of Writing That Works Most of The Time I really have not looked up different styles of writing let alone realized there was so many different types of it. My method is not necessarily a method per se, I have always for the longest time just wrote down as if I was speaking to someone. That to me was where my biggest praise came from, that I was able to write with such voice and was able to emulate my presence through the pages. When writing for an essay there is a period where I read and reread the question to gather all the information that is needed. Once the question is fully understood, I try to explain myself in full detail.…

Most times I would simply take one sentence from each paragraph in my essay, and form one conclusion paragraph that was very repetitive, and often oddly worded. The conclusion to my narrative essay is a perfect example. Each sentence in the paragraph can be found in another paragraph throughout the essay. While I am still working to improve my abilities to write a conclusion paragraph, I believe that I have started to show signs of improvement over the course of this semester. In more recent essays, I have worked hard to summarize the essay without simply rewriting a five sentence version of the essay.…

Writing is something that should not come too easy to people. It requires a lot of thought process to get the right wording and phrasing. It also requires the writer to use their own voice in each piece of writing. No one likes a story that does not have a voice and seems like the writer does not care. Reading those kinds of stories or papers can end up boring the reader, maybe even to the point where they stop reading.…
