Why Theatre is Beneficial For Your Life
Acting is a way to express yourself using your body as a canvas. As teenagers, we all go through tough times and need an outlet for all of our stress. Although theatre may not be for everyone there are many benefits you can take from it. Theatre can benefit your life by boosting your self-esteem, makes you more outgoing, and teaches self discipline.
In middle school I was a shy kid who mostly kept to himself. I was that weird kid who everyone loved but didn’t like. I had friends, but only a few who I could really trust. Anyway, it had come time to enter high school and I was very scared. Moving from point A to B wasn’t as easy as it seemed. …show more content…
So, as instructed, I did exactly that. I opened script and started going to town. I was full of energy and enthusiasm, my facial expressions were on point, and projected my voice across the room. “Theater teaches us we’re capable of anything—and usually teaches us this at times we need it most” (Oestreicher). This quote by Amy Oestreicher means that we are all capable of doing what we set our minds too. When you feel down or troubled theatre will always be there as an escape to the real world. In middle school I had nothing that I loved to do, no outlet or getaway from life. As most know, plays and musicals are performed in front of an audience. For me, this was a hard step to get passed being the shy freshman I was, but the output it brings you is amazing. Ever since I finished my first performance I was no longer shy or afraid of talking to new people. Theatre makes you more confident and outgoing than you could ever imagine (“How Theatre Arts Benefit Our Youth and Community”). It has shaped me into who I am. Thanks to theatre I can do anything I set my mind
