Creation Myths There are countless theories and ideas on how the world was created. One method that was used by Native Americans was telling creation myths. A creation myth is a story or legend that tells how the world was created and how people came about. These myths are passed down from generation to generation. The short story “How the World Was Made” is a creation myth because it explains how the Earth was made, the workings of the natural world, and social customs. The story gives insights on how the Earth was made. At first there was only water and the world beyond the arch. This world became very crowded and the animals who inhabited it wanted more room. The animals were curious to know what was below the water.
