How the World has changed in the Last 40 years The last 40 years has had an astronomical effect on the way businesses operate daily, and also the way employees interact on a day to day basis. Due to many economical changes, business operations have become much easier in today’s world then it was in the 1970’s. First, the internet is one of the biggest influences in the way a business operates now. Secondly, Diversity has become a major point of focus for most big corporations all over the world. Thirdly, Knowledge has become power within the workplace. Lastly, Innovation is changing all companies operations globally. All of these factors have led us, as employees, to become a very successful, challenging, and adaptable. Quite possibly the best invention in the last 40 years, the internet, is a game changer in, not only the business industry, but all industries. The internet enables communication with the push of a button across the world. 40 years ago, that was unheard of. Employees can now work remotely, which people view as an added benefit. Managers are no longer managing people all the time. Companies are replacing employees with machines and new computer systems that do what employees used to have to do by hand. This saves money and limits mistakes that humans are bound to make. There are some negative impacts of a highly automated business operation, but many companies think that the benefits outweigh the risks of this movement. Cell phones have really improved communication within the business world. Now there is not an excuse for employees and bosses to be away from their phones or not able to get in their emails at any given time because it can go wherever you go. Speaking from experience, cell phones have almost made the expectation to work 24-7 in case of
