Modern art is often called a masterpiece when it is usually off of a traditional piece of art. A Christmas Carol from around 1800s in England and How the Grinch Stole Christmas in an imaginary land called Whoville are two stories that are very alike mostly by the two main characters. The Grinch from How the Grinch Stole Christmas who hates Christmas, and Scrooge who needs to redeem himself from A Christmas Carol. A Christmas Carol has become such an influential work that modern authors still draw upon the character types, conflicts, and themes found in Dicken´s traditional story.

Seuss show the ability to forgive is powerful. Scrooge is forgiven by the last spirit for his sins and can live freely. ¨´I will honour Christmas in my heart, and try to to keep it all the year.´… Yes! and the bedpost was his own. The bed was his own.¨ The spirit forgave Scrooge for his sins and Scrooge forgave everyone including Christmas. Likewise, the Grinch forgives the Whos and the Whos forgive him. After The Grinch steals all the presents and trees he realizes what Christmas truly means and gives everything back. Both the Grinch and Scrooge are very alike for how the forgave others and how others forgave them. Lastly, the ability to forgive is powerful and both authors represent that through these pieces of work.
Overall, A Christmas Carol has become such an influential work that modern authors still draw upon the character types, conflicts, and themes found in Dicken´s traditional story. To begin, Dr. Seuss made an almost identical character to Charles Dickens´ Scrooge. Later on, both characters lost a they had liked due to the way they had been acting.
