playing a certain game, when reality is fatally different. With humor and imagination he
uses these techniques to protect his son from the danger Nazi concentration camps.
Although the film won several Oscars’, many critics who accused the production to have
falsely depiction of the Holocaust, unrealistic plot and comedy attacked the film.
One of the most common opposition to Life is Beautiful was the unrealistic

The emotions and
storyline used in the film is insulting and inappropriate. Realistically, this is a moment in
history where many victims didn’t have a stereotypically Hollywood ending.
Unfortunately, for most victims their endings were horrifying and traumatizing.
Likewise, the usage of comedy in a Holocaust film diminishes and disrespects
survivors who actually witness this fracturing event. According to one of the viewers’
reviews on IMDB, “ but the cartoonish depiction of genocide and desperation did not sit
well with me…the audience I was with laughed and cried on cue. They were
manipulated. Just like the Nazi's were manipulated in Germany.” Presenting the
Holocaust without much suffrage, and lacked consistency was fatal to this viewer. It was
a Holocaust fairytale movie, which was for everyone to enjoy. Also, the lack of
consistency of what happen in reality affects many viewers perception of being an awful
film. The events in this film according to viewers trivialize the events that happen in the
Holocaust.
