How The Dukes Obtain Economic Power

They gain economic power by working with foreign powers. The dukes work with England with trade, and the Medici family use banking to gain wealth from the Catholic Church. The Burgundy family gains land by marrying the right people and inheriting land. Medici used Florence’s army to conquer land. The dukes let their vessels work the land and do not change policies, while the Medici family use money to buy political favor and use whatever means to get ahead. The Burgundy family brought in Flemish artist that influences the art in their land, and the Medici family hire genius that works in Florence to shape their art. These artists produce great works of art that are important to the cultures of these families. The families support them because
