The Doomsday Clock is used to symbolize how close our nation is destroying civilization from a nuclear war or climate change because of the utilization of technology. This clock was created to provide an understanding of how international powers are changing. In the past 50+ years, the Doomsday Clock has been changed by the Science and Security Board of the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists twice a year to decide the settings of the clock. Global events are the factors effect the change of time on the clock. During 1947, the Doomsday Clock was 7 minutes before midnight.
