Statistical trends demonstrate that, during the six months after the explosion of the Deepwater Horizon, more than 7,000 birds were collected in the spill area, of which nearly 3,000 (about 40%) showed visible signs of oiling. The oil also affected the marine animals, oil can cause chemical burns and irritation from direct contact, and can cause ulcers and internal bleeding if ingested. In fact, a bit more than 100 mammals were found dead after six months of the oil spill. One reason, we should care about the repercussions on the animal kingdom, is that they are part of the life cycle. Every little detail in the world is an essential need for life. Just like the heart cannot function if the lungs aren't functioning. Just like life, we can not function if no animals or vegetation exist, vegetation is where we receive oxygen from. For example, animals around the world should not have to suffer because of our careless mistakes.
