Religion was also a huge part of the reason why so many Americans migrated towards the west. They saw it as an incredible opportunity to go preach the Gospel to people who may have not heard the Gospel yet. They felt God’s calling to go spread the Word of God, to continue growing the number of believer’s in the nation. Another impact in the westward expansion was the population boom. More families were building larger families, which obviously means there must be more space for all of the people. Although it was not pretty, it was necessary. Leaders such as Abraham Lincoln took problems into their own hands and made changes that benefited our nation as a whole. Freedom was won, slavery was abolished, spiritual advancements were made, the United States of America grew in rapid forms, and to top it all of, America became the true powerhouse in war and politics. Thomas Jefferson once said, “I predict future happiness for Americans, if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them.” Although our society is in shambles at the moment, we will prevail because we are Americans. We fight in what we believe in and at the end of the day, we will get what we worked so hard for. We need leaders like in the nineteenth century, who will step up for our amazing country?
