How Tesla Changed The World

Tesla changed the world with the concept of wireless transmission of power and radio signals, as well as inadvertently creating the foundations for some fields in medical research. Tesla worked tirelessly on wireless transmission once he discovered he could light a fluorescent bulb (another one of his inventions) with no wires, leads, or connections to it. This phenomenon fascinated him to no end. From that day on, he dreamt of a world powered by this idea and wanted to change the world by providing it limitless power wirelessly. A building fire consumed Tesla's lab, destroying his work. The timing could not have been worse. In England, a young Italian experimenter named Guglielmo Marconi had been hard at work building a device for wireless telegraphy. Marconi’s original patent was extremely weak and thought to barely be able to relay a signal across a pond. Later he set up a long-distance demonstrations, using a Tesla oscillator to transmit the signals across the English Channel. At first Nikola Tesla was not worried about the italian inventor, until he saw that Marconi had practically stolen and thrived off his patent in wireless transmission, he was furious. Tesla attempted to gain the credit he deserved for his invention through the court system. Tesla never got the recognition he deserved for his patent until after his death when a court ruling made Marconi’s patent invalid since it had copied Tesla’s. To this day, students are taught that Marconi is the sole inventor of the radio, yet Tesla’s work in the field had started a domino effect in transmitted media.
