Summary “The Facebook generation is fed up with Facebook” (1).
After reviewing a Pew study, Bianca Bosker writes that Facebook, though still popular, has become something users feel like they have to do. In “How Teens Are Really Using Facebook,” Bosker summarizes the findings of a Pew study which show that while Facebook is still popular, other sites are gaining users. Bosker then goes on in her essay to list the ways Facebook users are highly involved in the site, which is supported by more information from the Pew study.

Throughout the piece I was often confused as to what the numbers actually meant because it was hard to stay focused reading this piece. Bosker’s essay mentions that “94 percent of teenage social media users still have profiles” on Facebook and that only “eleven percent of teens surveyed had Instagram accounts” (5). Though the information is a little outdated, it is still astounding how few people used Instagram at first in comparison to Facebook. I do not personally have a Facebook so I can not relate to the issue of feeling burdened by Facebook, but I understand the feeling of “having” to check social
