Introduction I am going to do my paper on how I feel technology making humans less sociable. I believe that technology is making humans less sociable because kids nowadays tend to stay home all day and play video games or be on their phones instead of going outside and enjoy their day. Also people nowadays find it way easier to just grab their phone and talk to someone instead of actually going to their house and socializing with them in person. I want to find out how much time kids spend on their phones; I 'm going to focus more on teens. Not everyone agrees with my opinion. There are people who think that it 's not technology that is making human less sociable. Kids blame their parents because they don 't let them go hang out …show more content…
People have gone from being independent, to depending on technology for pretty much everything they do. For example, teens nowadays can’t do anything without depending on their phones. According to Linda Matchan, who wrote an article for the Boston Globe, one of her greatest frustration is with students and their cell phones. The texting, tweeting, and Snapchatting during class time are “an incredible distraction, and makes it much more difficult to teach,” she said. “It’s pretty hard to compete with a very funny YouTube video.” (Matchan 2.) This is telling us how cellphones are a huge distraction for kids education. Teachers are becoming more and more frustrated with kids and how disrespectful they are because of the distractions cell phones cause. Schools are thinking about implementing no phone rules. There was a study done throughout the UK where schools found that test scores were 6.41 higher at schools where phones were prohibited. The researchers concluded that cellphones “can have a negative impact on productivity through distraction, particularly among low-achieving students.” (Matchan 3.) This means that low-achieving are more likely to become distracted with the use of cellphones, while high-achieving students can still focus regardless of phone

In Tamara Brenner’s “The use of Mobile Devices in the College Classroom”, she finds that cellphones commonly lead to distraction in the classroom. She does acknowledge the positive uses of mobile devices such as learning apps that can greatly impact the functionality of the college course; however, she cites many studies that reveal the student’s poor ability to multitask. A student who texted during class was found to do worse off in class when it came to note-taking and understanding the material expressed in the class. In multiple surveys, the students who surrounded the one with the phone exhibited worse test scores than those who were further away from the…

I believe technology is making people less likely to interact with one another; it is creating more lonely people. Firstly, more people are forming online relationships than physical ones, and they are more interested in spending time with them online then in reality. We interact online because we are either scared to talk to one another or we do not know how to anymore. Secondly, no one talks to each other anymore. Everyone would rather text or email than have a face-to-face conversation or pick up the phone and call someone.…

Because of that, this issue cannot be ignored, and needs to be solved by the start of school this fall. To start off, Cell phones can be used to delve deeper into class at school and at home.…

Cell phones are great, but they just cause so many distractions in school. When students ask if they can look up something, they just gonna get on social media to look at how many likes they got on instagram or how many followers they have. Since we have been talking about cell phones as our writing unit, it made me think of so many reasons why we shouldn’t have cell phones in school. One example from an article called “ Schools seek balance for cellphones in class” says that the texting, tweeting, and Snapchatting during class time is an incredible distraction, and it makes it harder for teachers to teach. Another example from the article” Schools seek balance for cellphones in class” is teachers will get kids saying “ I’ll look something up for English, and while I’m here let me quickly check my Instagram or Twitter feed’ From this article, these were some good reasons why schools shouldn’t allow cell phone usage in school.…
