Do the current trends in school with technology predict the future generations carrying books to their classes? Technology has rapidly impacted education nowadays. It has crossed barriers we were not able to cross ten years ago. It’s now easier for every single human being to communicate with others and to learn. There’s a wide variety of technologic resources we can use to achieve certain purposes like podcasts to study for a test, online videos to understand certain lessons, virtual classes, etc. People who were not able to receive an education because they don 't count with any schools nearby or their health prevented them to go are now able to take online courses to achieve the degree or any education they want in any subject. Trying to read a book to a kid is a hard task. It takes a lot of effort to have the kid 's attention. With the advances in technology, teachers count with better resources that entertain children a lot more, like videos and virtual games that caught their eye faster and more efficiently. A staff reporter named Shafaat Shahbandari stated Poonam Heryani’s - the Headmistress at Global Indian International School- words in his article Technology Makes Learning Enjoyable: “The generation that we have today cannot be engaged in schools in a traditional way. In order to develop the kind of soft skills they will require 10 years from now, we need to integrate technology in the learning process,”. You can derive from that statement how vital technology has become for the new generations nowadays in order to keep them engaged in classes. The kids find themselves more motivated to go to school if they know they will be using adobe player to design or doing a Prezi presentation rather than a poster board.. This dependence on technology from these children have occurred since they are surrounded by a large variety of technologic devices in their daily lives so they can’t keep away from them, especially if they have games. It’s saving many trees from being cut down to make more paper since it’s now substituting textbooks and notebooks for online textbooks that people can easily access through their iPads or laptops that you can carry anywhere. Likewise, humans no longer need the woods from the trees in order to make their own chalkboards since now we solely depend on the computer, tablets, Smartboards, etc. Not even binders are necessary anymore, there’s online applications called “live binders” where you can save your papers in there and also you can just save all of your documents in a single gadget of your choice. In the article How Can Technology help the Environment they state: “Technology and dedicated research can help us to manage and monitor energy consumption.”Soon enough, student won’t need to carry around heavy textbooks, binders, and notebooks to class and will reduce their weight by just carrying their laptop or tablet around.
