This paper will deal with my thoughts on how technology has changed our society in the past 10-15 years as it pertains to religion and ethics. It will also share why I agree with Dr. Graham in his assessment that technology in and of itself is not evil.
Never had I devoted any thought to technology and how it has affected society until now. After viewing and listening to Dr. Billy Graham’s video, it has gotten me to thinking about what I believe as it pertains to technology and what God’s word teaches us in regards to technology if anything at all. “Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you,” (Philippians 4:8-9 NIV). What is religion and what is ethics?
For an illustration, Quora defines, ethics as, “a set of standards society creates that outlines what is wrong or right. Religion is defined as, “many ways of thinking that align human beings to a higher power, to a higher being. Something that creates joy and fear alike in hearts of men.” Thus, for me the relationship between faith and ethics is about the relationship between revelation and rationality among humanity.
