Human workers, although provide a much greater attention to detail, can be a great liability to a company as they can get injured on the job or lack the dedication and work ethic to produce a well-developed product. I believe for mechanical industries to produce cost effective products for consumers, companies should utilize both human workers and machines to allow for a higher and more efficient production rate as well as a maintained quality in the products as they are manufactured.
For a manufacturing company, the main objective is to produce the greatest number of innovative products with the least amount of money. Robots possess the power to increase mechanical companies’ production rate tremendously. According to Acieta, a world leader in automatized welding systems, not only do robots manufacture more products per hour than a human worker, they also allow more freedom to the engineer by enabling designs that require welds that a human worker could not make due to restricted access or orientation. This is why I believe for mechanical industries to produce the most cost effective products for consumers, companies should utilize both human workers and machines to allow for a higher and more efficient production rate as well as a maintained quality in the products as they are manufactured. According to James Krüger, a mechanical engineer and professor at the Institute for Machine Tools and Factory Management in Berlin, Germany, the interaction between a human worker and a robot improves the efficiency and quality of the individual complex assembly processes, primarily when the machine is used as an intelligent assistant to the human worker. With the use of both robotics and human workers, the mechanical assembly system combines the advantages of both means of assembly and creates an arrangement that is the most effective at producing the greatest amount of high quality products in the least amount of time, therefore saving the company the most amount of
