I found it rather interesting how technologies have become “oxygen” in our lives and how it affected us in our day-to-day lives. Rachel Dretzin brought up a very interesting question in the beginning of the video and it hit me as well, it does seems like everyone is together in the same room but because of technologies, everyone lost the connection with the rest of the people but instead being dragged into the Internet world. I still remember talking to my parents about growing up with technologies, back in my parents’ time, they did not have that much access to the computers, they simply learned everything from school, teachers was the central figure in the classroom, the teachers were the transmitter and all the students was the

He mentioned a website called “SparkNotes” and it reminds me of myself when I was in high school I used to use this website a lot because I didn’t want to read a book. Since technologies allow me to do that, me and my friends decided not to read the 400 pages book but going on SparkNotes and finishing up the whole novel in just a few paragraphs. That is how Professor Mark Bauerlein decided to publish a book called The Dumbest Generation, I’m pretty sure that nobody in our generation will be happy knowing that someone out there called us the dumbest generation, but I have to admit that he had a few pretty good points on our generation. My parents still have the habit of reading books and they still enjoy it, but I don’t see much from our generation, for example, when you see people from my parents generation goes to a salon while waiting, they often find a book or magazine to read but on the opposite hand, if people from our generation has to wait for something, they always take out their mobile devices nothing else. Another example is that our writing skills is decreasing as we get older, I believed that everyone goes online and search for an example when they have to write an essay or response paper, they don’t tend to rely on themselves anymore but rather trusting the
