How Technology Affects Patient's Quality Of Life

Decent Essays
Laney, I agree with you that technology improves patient's quality of life (Burkhardt & Nathaniel, 2014). An example of this would be in the emergency room I work in we have a stroke cart, which is a computer on wheels. We call a number, the stroke center turns the computer on, and the RN at the stroke center contacts the neurologist. the neurologist then appears on the screen. This allows us to communicate with a neurologist as soon as the patient comes into the room. The doctor can do their assessment through the computer because it is "live". Our emergency room doctor and the neurologist also communicate. Since we can talk to a neurologist right away, the patient has a greater chance of survival or starting TPa to decrease symptoms.
