Have you ever found yourself very bored on any day, what is your immediate reaction? You reach into your pocket and begin to entertain yourself on your cell phone, it has come to a point where it is an automatic instinct. This generation has had much of their lifetime buried in the digital world than spending time actually experiencing activities that surround each person. I believe that humans are at risk of losing their humanity when they rely solely on technology. These technological advancements slowly decrease human quality of life. A few examples are, how technology affects our everyday lives through human psychological state, social state, time consumption and distractions. Slowly technology begins to take away certain qualities that our brain contains before the technology became an unlimited source of information. Not to mention, the digital world creates friction between natural human interactions. Humans have become addicted to spending most of their day in front of the computer screens. In a study by Davies we take a look into the average amount of time on devices when Davies states, “People spend an average of 8 hours 21 minutes sleeping a day – but spend an average of 8 hours 41 minutes on media devices”. In other words, based upon these statistics it is safe to assume that an average of seven hours of a day we are away from any form of technology.
