Sales tax is one of the main taxes that we as younger kids and adults encounter in our daily lives. Sales tax is tax on sales. Included in state sales tax could be a county or local sales tax. So there could be an added amount to the five percent there is in Wisconsin. For example I live in La Crosse County and there is and added point five percent on sales tax for the County. For example in our local school district they decides to bus open enrolled students. You wouldn’t think this would be that big of a deal but in fact it is a waste of money because these students live out of the school district. Yes some of the students are only a mile or two out of the district, so they don’t think it’s that big of a deal. A couple years ago there was a kid that open enrolled from about 18 miles outside the school district. Yet we still went and got him, paying the bus driver for an extra forty minutes of work and paying for the gas of going there and back. This happening five days a week for four years is a lot of wasted money for all the local taxpayers. In my opinion this is completely wrong because families in the school district are paying for that open enrolled student to attend our High school and his family is not even paying taxes in our
