Twitter is a form of blogging referred to as micro blogging due to the fact that users are only allowed to tweet using only a hundred and forty characters or less. There are many factors that make Twitter such a recognizable social networking website. One being the ability to share or express information an instant which can be seen by many different people, whom are able to “like” , “favorite” or even “retweet” their tweets .Twitter, allows people to share, almost instantly, moments in times which has made it extremely popular with people who always feel the need to share. There such vast abundance of information that is being shared on daily bases whether it be by a news outlet, nonprofit organization or even regular people in general .With so much information constantly being passed , it enables us to deeply thinks about the subject matter at hand and also prevents us to feel any sense of real emotional connection. For example, there are many touching stories on twitter regarding issues such as people being seriously ill or children around the world battling hunger. There always comes a time where someone feels the need to share the story of someone whom has dealt with such as those, however I am scrolling on my twitter feed and cross along a tweet let’s say about a five year old boy in Africa who hasn’t eating in weeks, and even though the story might touch me a little bit, the most I could do that point in time is probably retweet that post. Such information is considered as decontextualized information because there is “...very little use to it” (Postman 67).
